The Princess of Hope is a statue that was erected in Balochistan's Hingol National Park, which is located on the Makran coast and some 190 kilometres from Karachi. During her visit to this region, Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie gave the name Princess of Hope. The Princess of Hope is a natural rock formation that manifests a princess looking beyond the horizon.
The entire landscape is covered with gorges and mountains of mud and rock. The site is located in the Hingol national park in the Lasbela district of Baluchistan. The formation got its name from Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie when she visited Pakistan in 2002. The Princess of Hope is a natural rock formation that manifests a princess looking beyond the horizon, approximately 190 km from Karachi, Pakistan and approximately 717 km from the provincial capital, Quetta. There are many coastal places and beautiful valleys in Baluchistan province, which are unmatched. But people are not even aware of the beauty of many places, not even a princess who has been standing silent for years until a few years ago. However, this stone sculpture carved in the mountain range of the Makran Coastal is now known as the “Princess of Hope”.
The area where the statue is located is famous for its natural beauty with Rocky Mountains, beaches, Hingol National Park, Omara, Gawadar and craved formation of Egyptian princess with her sphinx. There are still doubts weather this statue is manmade or craved by nature as there has been no archaeological studies for this area and is possibly 740 years old. The princess of this statue, located 190 km from Karachi, is dressed in a royal style. The tall princess looks elegant, but she looks as if she is hoping for something.
The statue was named Princess of Hope in 2002 by the famous Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie. Angelina Jolie visited the area as a UN Goodwill Ambassador at the time and when she visited Hingol National Park, she saw the princess standing in the mountain range for years. This name came to her mind as soon as she saw this princess and she suggested the name of the princess of this statue which has been present at this place for years as “Princess of Hope”.
The name of this princess of hope became popular again and this statue, which has existed for years, got recognition. Earlier, the statue, standing silently near the shores of the Arabian Sea, would have been hit by strong winds and dust storms, but it would have remained the same without its identity. There is another similar statue of the Sphinx at this place. It bears a resemblance to the famous Egyptian statue of the Sphinx, the only friend of the princess standing in this desolate desert. According to experts, these statues are 750 years old and historical heritage.
Most families visit this area using tour operators, who take care of travel, food, accommodation, and tour guide. While some prefer to do it themselves as a long road trip. There is a lot of activities to indulge for both demographics, as there are many other attractions located nearby with resorts. Lota Bazaar is situated nearby where souvenirs shop, and small restaurants are available. The trip towards Princess of Hope is a long road trip, that take 4 to 6 hours from Karachi and 1 day from Quetta.

اس کے بارے میں اب بھی شکوک و شبہات موجود ہیں کہ یہ مجسمہ انسان کا بنایا ہوا ہے یا فطرت کی طرف سے تیار کیا گیا ہے کیونکہ اس علاقے کے بارے میں کوئی آثار قدیمہ کا مطالعہ نہیں کیا گیا ہے اور یہ ممکنہ طور پر 740 سال پرانا ہے۔ کراچی سے 190 کلومیٹر دور واقع اس مجسمے کی شہزادی نے شاہی لباس زیب تن کیا ہوا ہے۔ دراز قد شہزادی خوبصورت لگ رہی ہے، لیکن وہ ایسے لگ رہی ہے جیسے وہ کسی چیز کی امید کر رہی ہو۔ اس مجسمے کو 2002 میں مشہور ہالی ووڈ اداکارہ انجلینا جولی نے پرنسس آف ہوپ کا نام دیا تھا۔ انجلینا جولی نے اس وقت اقوام متحدہ کی خیر سگالی سفیر کے طور پر اس علاقے کا دورہ کیا تھا اور جب انہوں نے ہنگول نیشنل پارک کا دورہ کیا تو انہوں نے شہزادی کو پہاڑی سلسلے میں برسوں سے کھڑے دیکھا ہے ۔ اس شہزادی کو دیکھتے ہی یہ نام اس کے ذہن میں آیا اور اس نے اس مجسمے کی شہزادی کا نام تجویز کیا جو برسوں سے اس جگہ پر ’’امید کی شہزادی‘‘ کے طور پر موجود ہے۔ امید کی اس شہزادی کا نام پھر سے مشہور ہوا اور برسوں سے موجود اس مجسمے کو پہچان مل گئی۔ اس سے پہلے بحیرہ عرب کے ساحلوں کے قریب خاموشی سے کھڑا یہ مجسمہ تیز ہواؤں اور گردو غبار کی زد میں آ جاتا تھا لیکن یہ اپنی شناخت کے بغیر ویسا ہی رہتا تھا۔ اس جگہ پر اسفنکس کا ایک اور مجسمہ بھی ہے۔ اس کی مشابہت مصری اسفنکس کے مشہور مجسمے سے ہے، جو اس ویران صحرا میں کھڑی شہزادی کی واحد دوست ہے۔ ماہرین کے مطابق یہ مجسمے 750 سال پرانے اور تاریخی ورثہ ہیں۔ زیادہ تر خاندان ٹور آپریٹرز کا استعمال کرتے ہوئے اس علاقے کا دورہ کرتے ہیں، جو سفر، خوراک، رہائش اور ٹور گائیڈ کا خیال رکھتے ہیں۔ جبکہ کچھ لوگ اسے ایک طویل سڑک کے سفر کے طور پر خود کرنا پسند کرتے ہیں۔
